All-New 2013 Nissan Altima Tops Mid-Size Sedan Class in Style, Fuel Economy, Performance and Innovation
Nissan Australia today announced its upcoming entry in the medium car segment with the appearance of the all-new Altima.
The Altima was unveiled at the New York Motor Show this morning (Australian time) by Nissan Motor Company CEO Carlos Ghosn and will arrive in Australian showrooms in the second half of 2013.
“The new Altima is already the second most successful passenger sedan in the USA with sales of more than 20,000 per month,” said Nissan Australia CEO Bill Peffer.
“Its appearance in Australia will be a strategic boost to our ever improving passenger car line up and will offer a compelling alternative to the familiar products in this segment. Altima will also raise the bar in motorsport as Nissan’s entry in the 2013 V8 Supercar Championship where it will introduce modern generation sedan styling and technology.”
Nissan Australia executives were joined in New York by Kelly Racing co-owner and driver Rick Kelly and CEO John Crennan, for a closer look at Altima as the team prepares to build the factory entry into the V8 Supercars Championship from 2013.
“It’s hugely exciting to be here in New York for the unveiling of the new Nissan Altima,” said Rick Kelly.
“Confirming Altima as the model we will race from 2013 is the next step for us as we gear up for next season.
“The Altima looks fantastic in the flesh. Now we can’t wait to get our first Nissan Altima V8 Supercar on-track for testing later this year because it’s going to look sensational as a race car.”
Hi Rick,Todd, and all at Kelly Racing,
I guess that you have been receiving a lot of emails this morning after your announcement yesterday (hopefully a lot will be supportive) but I guess a few will be from people who do not understand the problems (budget ) that comes with running a large team.
I started following Todd when he was at HRT in the early days as he was always happy to chat with us (the fans) when he had time, this naturally followed on with Rick when he started, both the boys always happy to chat.
I guess the main problem is going to be with us holden fans who have followed our favourite maker ( I have almost always driven them since my first car which was an FB holden) and it was a bit of a shock with the change announced particularly as the boys have had all their successes with holden,HOWEVER if the factory do not see fit to support you in a way to help the budget then you have to think of the viability and ongoing success of Kelly Racing going into the future.
I think that holden and ford fans (as much as we love our home grown cars) had better get used to the idea that the "commodore and falcon" are a dying breed and will not be with us within the next 4 to 5 years and we will get an American based model to race over here and as such our "home grown" loyalties will have to change.
I look at the business case that Nissan obviously have put to you, and you would have looked at the long term future for your organisation and have gone with it,to me it is a no-brainer to try and cement your organisation with a solid footing for the foreseeable future so I will be following you and will continue to be a happy member of the "Kelly Gang" for the foreseeable future.
I am quite happy as a "Foundation member" for you to send out this letter to other members to ask them to continue to support Kelly Racing and to just say ,"look at the bigger picture" as the future of V8 racing in Australia will be with other manufacturers,we have had a great time with the "Commodore V/S Falcon battles" but it is coming to an end so just get used to the idea.
I look forward to an exciting new era starting in 2013,
best wishes
